ASEAN Task Force on Codex (ATFC)

1.   The 8th Meeting of the ASEAN Task Force on Codex (ATFC) was held on 26-28 May 2008 in Bukittinggi, West Sumatra, Indonesia. The Meeting was attended by delegates from Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam under the chairmanship of  Mr. Kukuh S. Achmad, Director, Laboratory and Inspection Body Accreditation, National Standardization Agency of Indonesia.

During the meeting, the following issues were discussed and noted .

1.      Update of activities by the appointed ASEAN focal points for the Codex Committees.

2.       Joint ASEAN position on Codex Issues related to trade in commodities and         agriculture.

The Meeting proposed that the 9th Meeting of the ATFC would be held in Lao PDR (in accordance with the Rule of Procedures for hosting in alphabetical order) tentatively in May 2009, subject to the government approval. Further details and confirmation would be informed to Member States in due course.

The meeting also expressed their sincere appreciation to the Government of Indonesia for the warm hospitality and excellent arrangements made for the meeting.
