Back to back with the 21^st Session of Codex Committee on Fats and Oils (CCFO), “Forum on EU-ASEAN Cooperation on Codex Matters” will be held on 21 February 2009 at Sutera Harbour Resort, Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia. 

Aim at mutual benefits, the forum will discuss and investigate the areas of cooperation on Codex matters between EU and ASEAN, for example risk assessment, mechanism for the cooperation or etc. that will lead to the increasing of consumer protection in EU and ASEAN. 

In addition, a discussion will involve an investigation on how the ASEAN working groups or missions concerning food safety would be involved in such cooperation process i.e. ASEAN Task Force on Codex (ATFC), ASEAN Expert Group on Food Safety (AEGFS), Prepared Foodstuff Product Working Group (PfPWG), ASEAN Working Group on Fisheries (AWGF), and ASEAN Working Group on Livestock (AWGL).

At the forum, experts from EU and ASEAN will make a presentation on cooperation on food safety, Codex matters and risk assessment.  Meanwhile, senior official from EU and ASEAN will have a chance to discuss on the themes of the debate part including general considerations, risk assessment, and Codex matters.
