Topic : The 9th Meeting of ACCSQ Prepared Foodstuff Product Working Group (PFPWG) and the relevant meetings

Detail :

               The 9th Meeting of ACCSQ Prepared Foodstuff Product Working Group (PFPWG) and the relevant meetings will be held on 9-12 June 2009 at Sofitel Centara Grand Bangkok, Bangkok, Thailand. The schedule of the meetings is as follows:

                - The Task Force on Harmonization of Food:  Safety Standards for Prepared Foodstuff: 9 June 2009 at 13.30 hours

                - The Task Force on Development of MRA: 10 June 2009 at 9.30 hours

                 - The 9th Meeting of ACCSQ PFPWG: 11-12 June 2009

 

              Accordingly with the agreement of the 8th ACCSQ PFPWG in 2008 in Indonesia, two Task Forces were established to assist the work of ACCSQ PFPWG.  Prior the 9th ACCSQ PFPWG meeting, the two Task Force meetings will be held at the same venue of PFPWG meeting. 

The Task Force on Harmonization of Food Safety Standards for Prepared Foodstuff 

The Task Force chaired by Indonesia aims to address the harmonization of food safety standards among Member States.   

“The Task Force on Development of MRA” 

The Task Force chaired by Malaysia and Thailand. It was assigned to look into the development of MRAs for identified areas as well as the possibility of developing single regulatory regimes for prepared foodstuff sector by 2010.  The Draft MRA will be considered at the meeting.

The recommendations from the two Task Forces will be further discussed and considered for appropriated action by the ACCSQ PFPWG meeting.

 

The 9th Meeting of ACCSQ PFPWG will consider and discuss its subject matters which some highlight subject matters are:

- Exchange of Information on Existing Standards, Technical Regulations and Conformity Assessment Procedures among Member States

- Outcomes and recommendations of “The Task Force on Harmonization of Food Safety Standards for Prepared Foodstuff” 

- Outcomes and recommendations of “The Task Force on Development of MRA” 

- ASEAN common Food Control Requirements

- Technical Infrastructure for Food Safety in ASEAN

- Updates on Progress made in the ASEAN Bodies Related to Agro-Based Sector

- Technical Assistance for the Integration of the Prepared Foodstuff Sector

- Establish of the ASEAN Coordinating Committee on Food Safety
